Erwin Radjinder was born Erwin Radjinder Angad-Gaur on July 17, 1970 in The Hague (the Netherlands). Growing up he was surrounded mainly by Dutch chansons and comedy records. It was not before he turned 17 that he developed a serious interest in English pop music. It was the sense of humor and irony in the British pop music of The Beatles, Queen and Joe Jackson that especially influenced his own writing style. The use of the recording studio as an instrument in the music of the 60s and 70s and the art of album making of this time also had a large impact.
